Falkirk shoppers warned over fake mobile phone scam

Shoppers in Falkirk are being told to be on their guard after reports of a man in the area selling fake mobile phones.

Officers say that a member of the public was recently approached by a male offering to sell mobile phones at a reduced price.

On agreeing a price, the victim was given what appeared to be legitimate devices authentically boxed but on returning home these were found to be imitation devices.

The man is described as approx. 5'10" tall, heavy build, bald with a bushy dark/greying beard wearing a flowery shirt, a black jacket and dark trousers.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We would urge the public not to purchase goods when approached in the street, regardless of the price and/or how authentic they appear, and to be aware of any persons approaching them after withdrawing money from cash machines.

"If you have any information in relation to the above incident, please call 101 quoting incident number 3332 of 12th July 2021."
