Falkirk schoolboys raise over £1k for stroke unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital

Two Falkirk schoolboys have raised over £1,000 for a hospital ward close to their hearts.

The Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, cared for their grandfather after he suffered a stroke.

The youngsters from Shieldhill, were desperate to give back to the ward and walked a mile a day in the May to raise the cash.

Two postal workers helped save their grandfather Eddie Hunter's life when he collapsed in his front garden, quickly calling for an ambulance and keeping him awake.

After treatment Eddie was transferred from hospital to the Bellfield Centre in Stirling where he continues to receiving physiotherapy to aid his walking.

The boy's mum Tyne Hunter, Eddie’s daughter-in-law, and dad Alan, who joined their sons on their daily hikes, say the challenge has also given Eddie much-need inspiration.
