Falkirk's Helix Park presented with Green Flag Award

Helix Park in Falkirk, home of the Kelpies, has been presented with a Green Flag Award.

The scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces which set a benchmark standard in the UK and beyond.

It strives to ensure that everybody has access to quality green and other open spaces regardless of where they live.

The Green Flag Award also aims to meet the needs of the local community.

Helix Park is a land transformation project which aims to improve connections between and around the 16 communities in Falkirk.

This includes the eastern end of the Forth and Clyde Canal and regeneration of the area where the canal joins the River Carron.

John McNally MP for Falkirk said: "I’m delighted to see the Helix Park, in neighbouring Linlithgow and Falkirk East constituency, has been presented with a Green Flag Award this year.

"The award acknowledges the Helix’s contribution to providing a quality open green space that helps to boost health and wellbeing of local communities in the Falkirk area."

Other locations which have been given a Green Flag Award include Ormiston Park in East Lothian and Mount Vernon Park Community Garden in Glasgow.
