Falkirk's fireworks display cancelled due to vaccine passport requirements

Falkirk 's fireworks display has been cancelled for a second year in a row due to Covid restrictions.

Thousands of people pack into Callendar Park on November, 5, but with new rules coming into force regarding vaccination passports organisers say a display will not be possible for 2021.

The annual event usually attracts between 25,000 and 30,000 visitors.

Bosses say they would be unable to fence off the entire site and cannot provide a sufficient number of stewards to check that everyone has been double vaccinated before entry.

Neil Brown, Chief Executive for Falkirk Community Trust, said: "We are sorry to have to announce this news, but I am certain that those who had been looking forward to attending this event will understand this decision.

"We must continue to reduce the level of transmission of the virus and do everything we can to prevent its spread."
