Falkirk's Canal Encounters to continue this weekend with fun for all the family

Falkirk's Canal Encounters is set to continue this weekend with various activities as part of Wildlife and Environment week.

Remote control pirate ships to tackle littering will be floating through the waterways by the Falkirk Wheel all day on Saturday August 28.

Meanwhile at Kelpie Plaza, there will be various pop-up workshops by artists Yulia Kovanova and Lars Koens between 10-4pm.

If you look up as you walk along the canal trail, you will able to see their colourful, abstract works of 20 selected visiting bird species.

Then, between 2-3pm there will be a guided walk and workshop called Foraging for Colour: Plants, Paints and Natural Pigments.

Here, you can learn how to make your own paints, inks, and dyes from foraged plants and trees in the environment around you.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust and RSPB will also be available throughout the day to educate on how to protect wildlife and birdlife.

Canal Encounters is a free month long celebration of the Forth & Clyde Canal as part of Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters 20/21.

For more information and to book tickets for any of the activities, please visit the Scottish Canals website here.
