Some of Falkirk's school pupils will return to class next week.
Nicola Sturgeon announced nursery children, pupils in primaries 1, 2 and 3, and a limited number of senior students who need access to school facilities for practical work, will return from Monday February, 22.
Vulnerable children with additional support needs will also receive increased school support.
The First Minister says the Scottish Government is "choosing to use the very limited headroom we have right now to get at least some children back to school".
Describing the decision as a "trade-off", Ms Sturgeon said the 'stay at home' message would remain until at least the beginning of March.
Speaking in the Scottish Parliament, she added: "I want to be clear, though, that the need to properly assess the impact of this limited re-opening means we think it unlikely.
"At this stage, that there will be any further return to school before 15 March."
It comes as Scotland's lockdown was extended until the start of March, at least.
A Falkirk Council spokesperson told Falkirk Live: "We welcome the First Minister’s announcement today to allow our youngest learners and those would need to complete important practical work to return to early learning setting and schools from next Monday.
"The return will be managed in line with Scottish Government guidelines."
