Falkirk East MSP urges constituents to be 'cautious' when booking Green List holidays

Residents in Falkirk are being urged to be 'cautious' when booking holidays on the governments Green List.

It means locals heading to the likes Malta and the Balearic Islands won't have to self-isolate for 10 days when they return to the UK.

The Scottish Government has added a number of countries to the list during its three weekly review of the traffic light system.

But Falkirk East MSP Michelle Thompson says things are still "incredibly unpredictable."

She added: "The latest additions to the Green Light travel list I’m sure will be welcomed by many people but we must remain cautious when considering our plans for travel.

"Unfortunately, the nature of the pandemic is incredibly unpredictable and, as we have seen in the recent past, are open to changing in a very short period.

"Anyone who is considering international travel plans must do so with a cautious and pragmatic approach.

"I fully understand that there are many people wishing to book time away abroad, not just for a holiday but to see family and friends that they may not have seen in over a year, but the overriding outcome of any changes should still be the safety of yourself and those closest to you.

"I would encourage everyone to ensure they put safety at the heart of any travel plans."
