Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu quietly had a career year in 2018

With the NFL’s best wide receiver in Julio Jones and the emergence of first-round pick Calvin Ridley, it was easy to overlook the contributions of Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu in 2018. Quietly, Sanu had a career year, catching 66 balls for a career-high 838 receiving yards. How was he was able to do so much damage last season despite being the team’s No. 3 option? One answer: he absolutely dominated on in-breaking routes.

According to Pro Football Focus, Sanu had the league’s highest passer rating (152.1) when targeted on in-breaking routes in 2018.

Sanu seemed to thrive in former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian’s system, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in Dirk Koetter’s offense next season.
