Falcons WR Julio Jones vows he will be ‘way better’ in Week 2

Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones played in Week 1 just a day after his extension was finalized. With quarterback Matt Ryan under intense pressure from Minnesota’s defensive line, Jones finished with six catches for only 31 yards and a touchdown.

The All-Pro wideout has had tough gmaes before, but almost always bounces back the next week. In fact, Jones has never once had less than 50 yards in two consecutive games over his entire NFL career.

Talking to reporters after Wednesday’s practice, Jones justifiably said he expects to be much better in the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Eagles.

Jones’ two worst games in 2018 came in Week 13 (18 yards) and Week 16 (28 yards). Jones responded both times by blowing up the following week. He recorded eight catches for 106 and two touchdowns in Week 14, and nine catches for 138 and a touchdown in Week 17.

In 2016, Jones followed up a 16-yard dud against the Saints with a 300-yard masterpiece against the Panthers the following week.

So when Jones says he expects to be better, don’t just take his word for it. He’s literally never had two bad games in s row over nine NFL seasons.
