One thing missing from the Falcons’ disastrous 1-6 start in 2019 has been locker room drama. Whether or not that’s a reflection of team leaders Julio Jones and Matt Ryan — who aren’t known to make waves — or a reflection of the team’s respect for Dan Quinn remains to be seen.
All we know for sure is that the players are going to bat for their head coach, especially Jones.
As reported by Zach Klein below, Jones said after Sunday’s game that Quinn has done everything for this team, and that the players take full responsibility for the position Atlanta is currently in.
Outside of his amazing play on the field, one of the reasons giving Jones an extension was an easy decision is because the All-Pro wideout sets a great example in the locker room.
Part of that means taking blame instead of pointing the finger. Quinn hasn’t blamed anyone but himself, and so far his players are following suit.
Things won’t get any easier for the Falcons with the Seattle Seahawks coming to town this week, especially after the team traded away wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to the Patriots on Tuesday morning.
As bad as things are, they could definitely be worse for Atlanta if not for the great locker room leadership of players like Jones.
