Julio Jones is perhaps the most physically dominant wide receiver in the NFL today, but he doesn’t get enough credit for his route running, which is probably the most overlooked aspect of his game.
Pro Football Focus shared an interesting graphic breaking down Jones’ yardage gained on each route in the 2018 season. As you can see, Julio did the most damage when running crossing routes (335 yards gained). The second-most lethal route was an out route, where he gained another 282 yards.
Here’s a look at his top five most productive routes in 2018.
Things could get even better for Jones this season. Atlanta’s offensive line should be improved, and second-year receiver Calvin Ridley could demand more attention from opposing defenses.
Jones also had some of his best numbers with Dirk Koetter the last time he was offensive coordinator. His career high for touchdowns was in 2012, when he posted 10 in Koetter’s first year.
