Report: Falcons will sign punter Matt Wile to practice squad

With punter Matt Bosher still dealing with a thigh injury, the Falcons will sign Matt Wile to their practice squad, as reported by Jason Butt of The Athletic.

Wile worked out for the Atlanta today and he gives the team a better backup plan than having Matt Bryant handle all of Bosher’s responsibilities.

The Falcons actually gave Wile his first NFL chance, punting twice for them back in 2016. He’d get another shot with the Cardinals in 2017 before landing with the Vikings last season.

Wile has averaged 45.3 yards per punt for his career and can at the very least handle the team’s kickoff duties if Bosher is limited Sunday against the Colts.

Or it’s possible the Falcons just want to set an NFL record for having the most players named Matt on a single team.
