Falcons TE Austin Hooper named a fantasy sleeper for Week 6

The Falcons were supposed to have a high-octane offense this season but have been wildly inconsistent, accumulating most of their offensive numbers in garbage time.

Austin Hooper has been a bright spot, though. Through five games. the fourth-year tight end is currently the top fantasy player at his position.

In Touchdown Wire’s Week 6 fantasy football sleepers list, Hooper was named as one of ten players poised for a big game.

Believe it or not, Hooper currently leads the Falcons with 34 catches. Yes, he has more catches than Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. That’s because Jones and Ridley get all the defensive attention. That trend should only continue this week when the Falcons play Arizona. Hooper is not a big-play threat, but he has 21 catches over the last three games.

How Hooper can be both a sleeper and the No. 1 rated player at his position is somewhat confusing. Outside of Atlanta, he isn’t yet recognized as one of the top tight ends in the league.

Nothing changes national perception quite like fantasy football, though, and it should only be a matter of time before Hooper gets the recognition he deserves.
