Falcons TE Austin Hooper has zero dropped passes in 2019

The Falcons offense hasn’t lived up to the hype so far this season. Slow starts have been a big contributor to the team’s 1-5 record through six games.

One person that has done their job, though, is tight end Austin Hooper — who leads Atlanta in catches and receiving yards.

In the past, fans doubted whether or not Hooper would ever improve enough to become a trusted receiving threat due to his tendency to drop passes. He dropped four in 2018, but the fourth-year tight end seems to have put that behind him. Hooper has yet to drop a ball in 2019.

Behind only wide receivers Michael Thomas and Chris Godwin, Hooper has the third-most catches in the NFL this season without a drop (42). Overall, the Falcons as a team are tied for the fewest drops on the year with just one.

Hooper is setting himself up for a nice payday if he keeps it up. If this season doesn’t get any better, Atlanta at least gets the consolation prize of knowing it has one of best young tight ends in the league.

Let’s just hope the team can afford to keep him.
