Falcons’ Austin Hooper ranks among NFL’s best TEs in yards per catch

The Falcons offense has moved the ball well through the air but hasn’t put up nearly enough points. At 1-3, Atlanta’s season is already in jeopardy.

If you’re trying to find a bright spot, though, look no further than tight end Austin Hooper. Second on the team in receiving yards with 307, Hooper’s become a trusted target of quarterback Matt Ryan.

As pointed out below by NFL Matchup on ESPN, Hooper ranks No. 5 in yards per catch (11.0) among the league’s tight ends.

Travis Kelce, Evan Engram and Darren Waller are the only tight ends with more yards than Hooper through four weeks.

Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter likes to utilize the tight end position, which has led to Hooper’s success. The team has thrown for the second-most passing yards in the league, but its offense is ranked No. 27 in points per game (17.5 PPG).

Hooper is doing his his part, though, and is currently on pace for 1,228 receiving yards.
