Falcons sign linebacker Bruce Carter to 1-year extension

The Falcons have moved on from cuts to extending their own pending free agents. According to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN, the team has signed linebacker Bruce Carter to a one-year contract extension.

Carter was a second round pick by the Cowboys in the 2011 NFL draft. He spent four years there, then one in Tampa Bay, followed by two seasons with the Jets before he landed in Atlanta last season.

In 11 games, Carter posted 21 combined tackles.

Carter won’t get much playing time, but he does provide depth at linebacker, which was exposed last year with Deion Jones’ injury.
