Falcons sign former Patriots safety Jason Thompson

The Atlanta Falcons waived safety Afolabi Laguda over the weekend. It didn’t take too long for them to find a replacement. The team just announced on their official website that they’ve signed former Patriots safety Jason Thompson.

A converted quarterback, Thompson (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) played his Freshman year at Wyoming before moving on to Utah.

New England signed Thompson as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He’s also had stints with the Cowboys, Seahawks and Bears but has not played in a real game yet.

Thompson will compete for one of the safety spots at the bottom end of the depth chart.
