Falcons sign former Oregon RB, waive Jeremy Langford

The Atlanta Falcons signed former Oregon running back Tony Brooks-James on Saturday, according to the official team website. Brooks-James participated in this weekend’s rookie minicamp in Flowery Branch and was one of the standouts.

In four years with the Ducks, Brooks-James played a total of 42 games. He carried the ball 283 times for 1,863 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 6.6 yards per carry. Brooks-James also caught 40 passes, adding another 392 yards and two touchdowns through the air.  He also has experience as a kickoff returner, totaling 1,047 yards and a touchdown on 44 attempts.

The Falcons have a crowded backfield picture, so it won’t be easy for Brooks-James to make the final 53-man roster. Most likely, he’ll be competing with Brian Hill and Kenjon Barner for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart behind Devonta Freeman, Ito Smith and Qadree Ollison.

In a corresponding move, the team waived/injured running back Jeremy Langford.
