Falcons safety Keanu Neal fined $28,075 for dirty hit on Jordan Reed

It may have happened over a week ago, but Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal is finally dealing with the ramifications for his dirty hit on Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed.

The hit in question left Reed with a concussion, and currently has but his availability for the Redskins’ first game of the season in jeopardy.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Neal was fined $28,075 for his hit on Reed, which was flagged for unnecessary roughness at the time. Following the hit, some people in the media bashed Neal for laying such a dirty, helmet-to-helmet hit in the preseason, and Neal later apologized for it on Twitter.

Now with the fine being handed out, it’s very clear that the NFL does not approve of the hit either, as they attempt to crack down on concussions and improve player safety.

The hit resulted in Reed being diagnosed with the seventh recorded concussion in his NFL career. He is 29 years old.
