Falcons release two players, sign two to practice squad

The Falcons added two players to their practice squad on Wednesday, signing offensive tackle Nate Wozniak and punter Matt Wile.

To make room, the team released defensive end Austin Larkin and tight end Carson Meier, as reported by D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Both moves make sense as Atlanta’s offesnive line is beat up and punter Matt Bosher still isn’t 100 percent.

Larkin played well in the preseason but wasn’t currently on track to get any meaningful reps at defensive end. Carson Meier was in a similar boat at tight end, unlikely to play due to the players in front of him.

Wozniak was an undrafted tight end that was signed to the Saints practice squad in 2018. His 6-foot-10, 302-pound frame was better suited for offensive tackle, and that’s where he was moved to before being released last month.

Bile has some NFL experience, most recently with the Minnesota Vikings last season. He gives the team some insurance if Bosher can’t go or is limited in the Falcons’ Week 3 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
