Falcons release LB Stephone Anthony, sign former Jaguars CB

Injuries to two cornerbacks against the Jets (Damontae Kazee, Kendall Sheffield) have forced the Falcons to find outside options to help round out their depth chart at cornerback. Today, the team announced that they have signed former Jaguars cornerback/ kick returner Jalen Myrick.

Myrick (5-foot-10, 200 pounds) played his college ball at Minnesota, where he posted five interceptions, 21 pass breakups and and eight tackles for a loss in 40 games. After going undrafted, he was picked up by Jacksonville in 2017 but he only played in five games and returned one kickoff.

He spent most of last season on and off the Vikings’ practice squad.

In a corresponding move, Atlanta released linebacker Stephone Anthony, a former first-round pick who is in danger of falling out of the league.
