Falcons release guard Brandon Fusco

The Falcons have released guard Brandon Fusco.

Fusco became expendable early this offseason when the team signed three guards in free agency in James Carpenter, Jamon Brown and Adam Gettis.

The addition of Chris Lindstrom with the team’s first-round draft pick sealed his fate. Lindstrom is projected to start at right guard, which is where Fusco was playing before he suffered an ankle injury Week 7 that ended his 2018 season early.

With Fusco, Andy Levitre and Ben Garland all out of the picture, Atlanta has done an almost total overhaul at the guard position. The only holdover from last year still on the roster is Wes Schweitzer.

Cutting Fusco will save the team about $2.23 million in cap space for this coming season, according to Over the Cap.
