Falcons QB Matt Ryan wants offense to be a ‘scoring machine’

As the frustration from the Falcons’ Week 4 loss to the Titans wears off, most fans will talk themselves into giving the team at least one more chance before giving up on the 2019 season.

Quarterback Matt Ryan isn’t backing down from the offseason hype around Atlanta’s offense, though. Despite scoring just 17.5 points per game through the first quarter of the season, the former MVP said he wants the team’s identity to be its high-powered offense.

Ryan’s thrown for the second-most passing yards of any quarterback, but is tied for the league-lead with six interceptions in four games. Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter doesn’t look like an upgrade from Steve Sarkisian so far.

The running game hasn’t gotten going either, as the team’s ranks No. 27 in rushing yards per game (70.2 YPG). The Falcons, despite some injuries up front, have four legitimate receiving threats in Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper.

With Ryan’s track record of consistency and an elite group weapons to throw to, it should only be a matter of time before the veteran quarterback gets this offense back on track.
