After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan returned on Friday.
The team first ruled him questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks but has officially downgraded him to out.
That means it will be veteran Matt Schaub making the start, with Danny Etling serving as his backup. It will be Schaub’s first start for the Falcons in 14 years, and his first start overall in nearly four years. He made two starts for the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, going 1-1. He’s 0-2 as a starter with Atlanta.
This news unquestionably hurts the Falcons’ chances against the Seahawks, although Schaub played well in limited action during Week 7.
He completed all six of his pass attempts for 65 yards and a touchdown.
