Falcons QB Matt Ryan has NFL’s sixth-highest 3rd-down passer rating

The Falcons offense has not lived up to preseason hype, and there’s plenty of blame to go around. Quarterback Matt Ryan hasn’t been the problem, however, his ten turnovers have definitely played a role in the team’s awful start.

Even during the worst season of Ryan’s career in terms of record, though, he’s throwing for 310 yards per game — the NFL’s third-highest average — while completing an NFC-best 70.9 percent of his passes.

As pointed out by NFL Matchup on ESPN below, Ryan ranks No. 6 in the league in third-down passer rating this season.

With a passer rating of 107.8 on third downs, Ryan trails only Derek Carr, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Ryan Tannehill and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Ryan missed Atlanta’s Week 8 matchup with the Seahawks due to an ankle injury, but practiced on Wednesday and is on track to start in Week 10 against the Saints.

The Falcons play six of their final eight games against NFC South opponents, leaving the door mildly open for an unlikely second-half run.
