Falcons promote former Lions WR Brandon Powell to active roster

The Falcons have added another wide receiver to the mix, promoting Brandon Powell to their active roster on Tuesday.

Powell — who’s a bit undersized at just 5-foot-8, 181 pounds — spent the first half of this season on Atlanta’s practice squad after playing for the Lions in 2018.

In six games with Detroit last season, the speedy Powell did a little bit of everything — returning kicks and punts, and starting one game at receiver. He has 11 career catches for 129 yards, plus one rushing attempt for four yards.

The Falcons announced two additional moves, adding both guard Anthony Coyle and safety C.J. Reavis to the team’s practice squad.

Atlanta returns to action after its bye to take on the heavily-favored New Orleans Saints in Week 10.
