The Falcons’ season is essentially over, just not technically, yet.
A 1-7 start has put the team in better position for the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft than a playoff spot in 2019.
Still, Atlanta has yet to play a divisional game this season. That means fans are going to get a really good look at the Saints, Panthers and Bucs over the final eight weeks.
Week 10 is the first of five straight NFC South games for the Falcons. They take on the Saints and Panthers on the road, before coming home to play the Buccaneers, followed by the Saints and Panthers again.
Atlanta plays Tampa Bay to close out the season in Week 17. If somehow this team can win its next eight games, the Falcons would be 9-7, with a 6-0 record in the NFC South.
Please don’t get your hopes up, though.
