Falcons place first-round pick Chris Lindstrom on injured reserve

As expected, the Falcons placed first-round pick Chris Lindstrom on injured reserve as the rookie will need surgery to prepare a broken foot he suffered during Week 1’s matchup with the Vikings.

Coach Dan Quinn said it would be Jamon Brown replacing Lindstrom at right guard in Week 2 against the Eagles. Brown was signed to a three-year, $18.75 million contract in the offseason, but was inactive against Minnesota.

Lindstrom’s loss is a devastating blow to a struggling Falcons offensive line. The rookie is still hopeful for a late-season return.

In a corresponding move, the team signed offensive tackle John Wetzel, who spent his preseason with Atlanta.
