Falcons open Week 1 as favorites over the Eagles

The Atlanta Falcons open up their 2021 regular season slate against the Philadelphia Eagles as both teams look to rebound from four-win seasons in 2020. Dating back to 2012, the Falcons have a 3-3 record against the Eagles and are 2-0 in home games versus Philadelphia.

The betting odds heading into the Falcons’ season opener have them as 3.5 point favorites. Despite preseason shortcomings, the spread has remained the same while the money line has increased slightly to -180 (odds via Tipico Sportsbook).

Against the Spread

  • Falcons: -3.5 | -105 (Wager $105 to win $100)

Money Line

  • Falcons: -180 (Wager $180 to win $100)

Over/Under

  • Over: 48.5 points | -108 (Wager $108 to win $100)
  • Under: 48.5 points | -112 (Wager $112 to win $100)

Where to put your money in Week 1

  •  Over 25.5 total points scored (Falcons) | -120

The Eagles allowed for 20 or more points on 15 occasions last year, eight times opponents scored more than 25 points. Philadelphia averaged 26.1 points per game.

  • Bet the Over | 48.5 points, -112

In their last five meetings, the under has hit each time. The Eagles may come in with the 11th ranked defense, but the Falcons’ offense will still find ways to score points. Couple that with Atlanta’s 26th-ranked defense, and the Eagles shouldn’t have issues moving the ball themselves.

  • Falcons outright win | -180

Where the teams currently lay, the Falcons are set up much better to come away with a win. Getting to the QB will be key for a Falcons win as Jalen Hurts has a 59.1 passer rating when under pressure.
