Falcons offense has NFL’s second-highest no-huddle rate

The Falcons haven’t been the offensive powerhouse that many predicted coming into the 2019 season.

Through two games, their offense is only scoring 18 points per game, good for 23rd in the NFL in points scored. The team is ranked No. 17 in total yardage (356 total yards per game).

Atlanta hasn’t yet found the balance it hopes to achieve under offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, but looked much better in Week 2.

During a comeback win over the Eagles, the Falcons flashed the type of high-octane attack we were expecting from the jump. They were forced to go no huddle and air the ball out quite a bit in both of their games.

In Week 1, they were down 28-0 to the Vikings and had to completely abandon the run. Overall on the season, Atlanta has the second-highest no-huddle rate in the league (18 percent), as tweeted out by Pat Thorman below.

With a run-heavy Colts team playing host in Week 3, the Falcons should try to establish their own ground game so they don’t lose the time of possession battle.

Ultimately, Koetter just needs to go with what works. If that means going no-huddle, nobody will care if it leads to more Falcons wins.
