Falcons offense had third lowest 3-and-out percentage last year

Last season, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan nearly matched some of his 2016 MVP numbers despite some troubles with offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. One area Ryan and the rest of the offense was particularly good at was staying on the field. According to NFL Matchup on ESPN, Atlanta had the third-lowest 3-and-out percentage in the league last year.

It’s not that surprising that the Falcons would excel on third down, as they have three excellent wide receivers and a legitimate Pro Bowler in the making in tight end Austin Hooper.

This year, Dirk Koetter will be taking over the offensive reigns. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this going.
