Falcons linebacker De’Vondre Campbell says social media gives too much power

Despite making more money than ever, today’s professional athletes face a new set of challenges that previous generations didn’t have to deal with. On top of a 24-hour news cycle, athletes also have to find a way to ignore constant criticism from social media. While one can choose to simply stay off of popular sites like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, it’s hard to live a life in 2019 without feeling their influence. Like it or not, famous athletes always have people talking about them. On Twitter, it tends to be negative.

Falcons linebacker De’Vondre Campbell is among those tired of arm-chair GM’s and their commentary on his game. On Saturday, Campbell tweeted about his frustrations about anonymous fans on social media getting to say whatever they want.

Campbell would probably be better off not giving them so much attention, but NFL players are only human and want to know what people think about them just like anyone else.
