The Atlanta Falcons hired Terry Fontenot last offseason to clean up the mess left by former general manager Thomas Dimitroff and his staff. In order to regain some sense of financial stability, Fontenot had to release a handful of players and restructure several other contracts.
Falcons outside linebacker Dante Fowler, who posted a career-low 30 pressures in 2020, was set to earn $18.5 million in 2021 before agreeing to a pay cut. Fowler understood the team’s cap situation and knew that if he wanted to stay in Atlanta, he would have to take less money.
Now, with one game remaining, Fowler has an opportunity to earn some of that money back. With 4.5 sacks on the season, Fowler can earn $1 million with a sack in Week 18, and $2 million with 2.5 sacks.

- 7 sacks = $2 million
- 9 sacks = $3 million
- 11 sacks = $4 million
The last time the Falcons played the Saints, Fowler was inactive, so we don’t know exactly what to expect. However, with a million dollars on the line, you can bet Atlanta’s top pass rusher will be hungry for quarterbacks on Sunday.
