Falcons land Ohio State DB in Draft Wire’s updated 2020 mock draft

The Falcons are hoping to turn things around before their 2019 season goes up in smoke. If the team loses to the Texans in Week 5 though, fans will begin looking ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft.

If you’re already at that point, Luke Easterling of Draft Wire has got you covered. In his updated 2020 mock draft, Easterling has the Falcons selecting Ohio State defensive back Jeff Okudah with the No. 8 pick.

Read what he wrote about Atlanta’s projected draft selection below.

In today’s NFL, you can never have too many quality corners. The Falcons may have more pressing needs elsewhere, but with this pick, they land one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country. Okudah is keeping up the trend of sending blue-chip defensive backs from Columbus to the pros.

The Falcons’ No. 2 defensive back, Isaiah Oliver, has experienced some growing pains during his first season as a starter. With Desmond Trufant playing some of the best football of his career, defenses are frequently targeting the less experienced Oliver.

However, he played really well in the team’s Week 2 win over the Eagles, and the team just invested a second-round pick in Oliver back in 2018.

It’s true that you can never have too many corners, though, and if Atlanta’s season continues to spiral, Okudah could be too good pass up.
