Falcons injury updates: Kaleb McGary, Kendall Sheffield, Damontae Kazee

The Falcons got a pretty big scare early on in training camp when first-round pick Kaleb McGary left practice after falling ill. After having a successful cardiac ablation procedure performed, McGary returned to practice less than a month after the minimally-invasive surgery. McGary is now a full participant at practice.

Head coach Dan Quinn gave the media an update on McGary’s status after Sunday’s practice. Watch.

Ty Sambrailo, who’s in a positional battle with McGary for the starting right tackle spot, was still limited in practice with a shoulder injury.

Rookie cornerback Kendall Sheffield (hamstring) and defensive back Damontae Kazee (ribs) were both limited. Sheffield was rehabbing off to the side, while Kazee was practicing in a black no-contact jersey, according to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.

Fullback Ricky Ortiz did not participate at all on Sunday as he is working through an ankle injury.

Atlanta finishes up its preseason schedule this Thursday on the road against the Jaguars.
