Falcons injury updates: 3 players hurt in preseason game vs. Broncos

All you really want from a preseason game is for nobody to get injured. Like Thanos, injuries in football are inevitable, though. The Falcons suffered three of them during the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night against Denver.

Let’s review each one.

QB Kurt Benkert: Toe

Atlanta’s third-string quarterback had arguably the best game of anyone on the team. However, Benkert had to leave in the fourth quarter due to a right toe injury that happened when he was tackled and his foot got stuck in the turf.

Even if Benkert only had one foot, he’d be a more capable QB than Matt Schaub right now.

WR/KR Marcus Green: Hamstring

Atlanta’s sixth-round draft pick Marcus Green was the top returner in college football the last couple of seasons. He got a few chances to show what he could do but also had to leave the game early.

Green posted 51 yards on two kickoff returns but he dropped one of his two punt return attempts. Unless he has to miss significant time, Green will likely fill both returner roles for the Falcons this year.

DT Ra’Shede Hageman: Groin

Another player that stood out early was defensive tackle Ra’Shede Hageman. He also had to leave with a groin issue.

Coach Dan Quinn is famously secretive about injury news and the team has no obligation to come out with an injury report at this time of the year, so we may not know how serious any of these are for a while.
