The Falcons secondary might have been a total failure in 2018 if not for the outstanding play of Damontae Kazee.
A fifth-round pick in the previous year’s draft, Kazee was called up to start after the injuries to Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen that ended their seasons early. Kazee answered the bell and went a whole lot further. In the end, he posted seven interceptions, which tied for the league lead. Watch.
Kazee also posted 82 combined tackles, 10 passes defensed and one forced fumble. This year, he’s projected to start at slot cornerback in place of Brian Poole, now with the Jets.
