Falcons guard Adam Gettis defends Andrew Luck’s decision to retire

By the end of Monday’s sports news cycle, just about everyone will have weighed in on quarterback Andrew Luck’s abrupt retirement on Saturday, following a Colts preseason game. Luck, who was booed by Colts fans as he walked off the field, has drawn both applause and outrage among NFL fans for his shocking decision.

Luck is just 29 years old and many fans have been questioning his love of football. NFL players have mostly supported Luck’s decision, though – which he says is based on three straight years of trying to play through injuries.

Falcons guard Adam Gettis was among those to voice their support for the former top overall pick in the 2012 draft. Here is what Gettis said on Twitter about Luck’s decision to walk away.

It’s one thing for fans to be disappointed they’re not going to see Luck play anymore, it’s an entirely different thing to question his toughness.
