Falcons fall to No. 29 in TD Wire’s Week 7 power rankings

The Falcons fell to 1-5 on the season after Sundays’ 34-33 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Their slim playoff changes got even slimmer and fans have begun to focus their attention on the 2020 NFL Draft.

The team predictably fell again in Touchdown Wire’s Week 7 power rankings. This time, Doug Farrar dropped Atlanta from No. 26 down to No. 29. Read some of what he had to say below.

Last time the Falcons started a season 1-5 was 2007. In case you don’t remember, that’s the year Michael Vick was suspended and later jailed on federal dogfighting charges, Bobby Petrino quit on the team, and Atlanta ranked 28th in Defensive DVOA. Now, the Falcons have a legitimate franchise quarterback in Matt Ryan, head coach Dan Quinn is a quality individual (unlike Petrino), and … well, the 2019 version of Atlanta’s defense might be even worse.

The Falcons host a 3-3 Rams team in Week 7 from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. If they can’t get things going, it may be Dan Quinn’s last game as head coach of this team.
