Falcons DT Grady Jarrett earns team’s highest PFF grade in Week 5

The Falcons couldn’t slow down Deshaun Watson during their 53-32 loss to the Texans in Week 5. Now at 1-4, it would take an almost perfect 11-game run for this team to make the playoffs.

Atlanta has barely played well enough to win one game, though, so it’s hard to see things turning around anytime soon. One thing that this team can feel good about is the play of defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.

After signing an extension in the offseason, Jarrett has been anything but the problem through five games. Pro Football Focus gave him an elite grade of 90.9 for his performance on Sunday, making him the highest-graded Falcons player.

Jarrett had seven tackles against the Texans and forced a fumble. Obviously the defense fell short in other areas, particularly the secondary which allowed Watson to throw for 5 touchdown passes.

Left tackle Jake Matthews received the highest PFF grade (77.5) of any Falcons offensive player in Week 5.

Next up for Atlanta, it’s off to Arizona for a matchup with Kyler Murray and the 1-3-1 Cardinals.
