Falcons defense allowed the third-highest passer rating in Week 1

If you watched the Falcons/Vikings game on Sunday, you already know it wasn’t pretty.

Atlanta’s defense was dominated by Minnesota’s running game in a loss that was never as close as the final score might indicate. Dalvin Cook had plenty of room to run, which set up one of the easiest days quarterback Kirk Cousins has ever had.

Throwing the ball just 10 times, Cousins completed eight passes for 98 yards, one touchdown and a quarterback rating of 140.8. That’s the third highest rating any defense in the NFL gave up Week 1.

Things won’t get any easier for Atlanta when the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) come to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 2.

Quarterback Carson Wentz had a field day in Philly’s opener, throwing for 313 yards and three touchdowns for quarterback rating of 121 against the Washington Redskins.

Dan Quinn will have to do a much better job managing the game if Atlanta’s going to slow down Wentz and the Eagles.
