Falcons coach Dan Quinn says NRG Stadium doesn’t conjure bad memories of blown 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI

The last time the Atlanta Falcons were in Houston, they blew a 28-3 lead to lose Super Bowl LI versus the New England Patriots. On Sunday, they will be back, to face the Texans at NRG Stadium, but for a more casual Week 5 bout with less significance than a world championship game.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn says there are no bad memories as he comes back to Houston, despite the souring Super Bowl loss that is one of the most infamous to date.

“I think any time you go compete for a championship it’s fun,” Quinn told the Houston media on a conference call Wednesday day. “I think it’d be more interesting if it was us and New England in a Super Bowl there, but that’s two years back and honestly we’ve got our hands full looking at Houston and all of the unique stuff they have. So, that’s where the focus is for us.”

However, that may change if Quinn’s Falcons lose in the venue where they lost the franchise’s best chance to bring a Lombardi Trophy to the ATL. If so, Atlanta will fall to 1-4, while Houston goes to 3-2. Winning one game out of five could make a (supposed) hot seat hotter.
