Falcons’ Calvin Ridley will miss game against Jets in London due to 'personal matter'

FLOWERY BRANCH — Calvin Ridley, the Falcons’ leading receiver, was not at practice Thursday and will not travel with the team to London for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. The Falcons described Ridley’s situation as a “personal matter.”

Also, wide receiver Russell Gage and defensive tackle Marlon Davidson won’t make the trip because of their ankle injuries, the team announced.

The team is set to leave for London later Thursday.

“Due to a personal matter, Calvin Ridley will not travel to the Falcons game in London this weekend,” the Falcons said in a statement released Thursday afternoon. “We are in support of Calvin during this time and will respect his privacy on the matter.”

Ridley has 27 catches for 255 yards and a touchdown this season.

Gage missed the past two games with his injury. Gage, Davidson and safety Erik Harris (calf) did not practice with the Falcons on Wednesday and were not seen Thursday.

The Falcons (1-3) will play the Jets (1-3) at 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Gage was injured in the Tampa Bay game in Week 2 and has missed the past two games. He was making progress. Davidson was injured in 17-14 win over the New York Giants the following week and missed the Washington game Sunday.

Harris was injured against Washington and was replaced by second-year safety Jaylinn Hawkins.

Olamide Zaccheaus has been playing for Gage, while rookie Ta’Quon Graham has been getting Davidson’s snaps.
