Falcons bring back CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson on 1-year contract extension

The Atlanta Falcons have begun their offseason changes by locking up their role players. So far, the team has re-signed linebacker Bruce Carter, defensive end Steven Means and offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo after letting Matt Bryant, Robert Alford and Brooks Reed go.

The next piece of the puzzle is cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who has just signed a one-year contract extension, according to the official team website. Coach Dan Quinn had this to say about him:

“Blidi has been a very versatile player for us over the last three years. . . He has experience in our system and adds depth for both the defense and special teams units.”

Wreh-Wilson won’t play much defense unless the Falcons suffer a series of injuries at cornerback. He only saw the field for 30 defensive snaps in 2018, less than 3 percent of the team’s total.

The Falcons still have a few weeks left to extend defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, but the clock is ticking.
