Falcons are big underdogs on the road against the 49ers

Winning at home hasn’t come easy for the Falcons this season, however, their road contests, including their London matchup against the Jets, have been a much different story.  The team is 6-2 thus far in games played away from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

During Week 15, the Falcons travel to San Francisco for a matchup against the 7-6 49ers. Each of the team’s four remaining games are crucial in earning a playoff berth.

Per the oddsmakers at Tipico Sportsbook, San Francisco is a 9.5-point favorite over Atlanta for Sunday’s game. The 49ers haven’t fared that well at home, but not to the extent of Atlanta. Tipico also gives the Falcons a 24 percent win probability.

Against the Spread

  • Falcons: +9.5, -110 (Wager $110 to win $100; cash out: $210)

Money Line

  • Falcons: +290 (Wager $100 to win $290; cash out: $390)

Over/Under

  • Over: 46.5 points -108 (Wager $108 to win $100: cash out: $208)
  • Under: 46.5 points -112 (Wager $112 to win $100; cash out: $212)

Where to put your money in Week 15

  • OVER total points 46.5: -108

These two teams average a combined 44 points per game. Of the Falcons’ 13 games thus far, the defense has allowed 20 or more points on 10 occasions. There’s no reason to think the same won’t happen against San Francisco. However, the 49ers are also on a three-game streak where their opponents have scored 23 or more points. Needless to say, the Falcons will have chances to score, it’s just whether or not they capitalize.

  • 2nd HALF highest scoring half: +105

The Falcons have a knack for keeping their opponent in the contest. Even if the game is close early on and the team finds some breathing room on the scoreboard, the offense’s inability to put games away has continued to be a problem for Atlanta. Given the Falcons’ history, we expect the second-half point total to be higher than the first.
