The defensive secondary in Atlanta is undergoing a major makeover. After parting ways with both starting safeties Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen, the team has brought in a new cornerback in free agency.
Fabian Moreau, a third-round pick by the Washington Football Team back in 2017, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Falcons, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Moreau wowed scouts coming out of UCLA when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds. During his four seasons in Washington, Moreau played both outside corner and in the slot, recording 125 tackles (84 solo), 14 passes defended, six interceptions and three forced fumbles.
His role in Atlanta isn’t entirely clear due to the current lack of depth in the secondary. With second-year man A.J. Terrell as the team’s only surefire starter, Moreau could potentially start on the other side depending on what happens in the NFL draft next month.
At worst, the Falcons are getting someone who can make an impact on special teams, while providing depth to multiple spots. Moreau is just 26 years old and still has considerable upside.
