Falcons 2019 training camp injury updates: WR Calvin Ridley, LB Duke Riley

Calvin Ridley managed to get through his rookie season in the NFL without any reported injuries. The second-year Falcons wide receiver suffered a tweaked hamstring during Thursday’s training camp practice, though. Afterwards, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters that he expected Ridley would be ready for this morning’s practice and it looks like that’s the case.

Ridley came out a little later than the other wide receivers and isn’t wearing a helmet or pads but he is present, according to team reporter Kelsey Conway.

Ridley led the team with 10 receiving touchdowns last season. If he cleans up his drops and continues to improve in other areas, he has a legitimate chance to be a Pro Bowler this year.

In related news, third-year linebacker Duke Riley is also not wearing a helmet.

There doesn’t seem to be any information on what’s up with Riley. As McClure mentions, this could partly explain why the team signed two linebackers yesterday: Stephone Anthony and Richie Brown.

According to ESPN, wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Deion Jones are still working off to the side. Defensive end Takk McKinley has been excused today for personal reasons.

The media will hopefully get an update on Ridley and Riley’s status after practice from coach Dan Quinn.

Update:

Quinn says Riley has a groin injury and it’ll be a few more days before Ridley is back up to speed, per Jason Butt at the Athletic.
