The Falcons finished up their preseason Thursday night with a 31-12 win over the Jaguars. Before the regular season officially begins though, they need to trim their roster down to 53 players.
Here are the cuts Atlanta has made thus far.
DE Durrant Miles
ESPN’s Vaughn McClure reports that Falcons defensive end Durrant Miles has been released. The undrafted free agent out of Boise State is a prime candidate to make the practice squad, according to McClure.
WR Christian Blake
NFL.com is reporting that wide receiver Christian Blake is the second of two Falcons cuts so far Saturday afternoon before the official 4:00 pm deadline. Blake signed a reserve/futures contract with the team back in January.
DE Chris Odom
Former undrafted free agent DE Chris Odom was released by the Falcons after a rather quiet preseason. Odom recorded just four total tackles and he didn’t have a great chance to make the team with Adrian Clayborn signing and John Cominsky playing well.
TE Logan Paulsen
Paulsen signed with Atlanta in 2018 and finished the season with nine catches for 91 yards and a score in 15 games. The 32-year-old is still a decent backup tight end, but the team is content to take its chances with free agent pickup Luke Stocker and preseason standout Jaeden Graham.
TE Thomas Duarte
Duarte just signed with the team and never really had a chance to make the roster. These early moves could be a sign of how confident the Falcons are in their depth at tight end. Assuming starter Austin Hooper stays healthy, this should be a position of strength for the Atlanta offense.
