JAIPUR: The social justice and empowerment department has so far recovered Rs 14.50 lakh from a number of e-mitra operators in Jaisalmer, who in collusion with officials of the department, were involved in siphoning off public money by registering fake marriages under the Chief Minister Kanyadaan Yojana. So far, over 100 such cases have been noticed in the district.
While two officers and a clerk of the department were suspended in May, the e-mitra centres are likely to be blacklisted, said Secretary Samit Sharma. “We’ve written to the finance department to take action against guilty officers working under their department,” he added.
“The culprits manipulated the online system and attached false documents to register fake marriages. We conducted an internal audit after we became suspicious about the number of marriages being registered in abundance under the scheme in Jaisalmer. They were caught after the internal audit,” he added. “We have also written to the block development officers (BDOs) to conduct sorting of cases so that false cases could be traced,” said Sharma.
“We are in the process of identifying all the e-mitra operators who were involved in registering false cases. We will blacklist all of them.” Under the scheme, a financial aid ranging from Rs 31,000 to Rs 51,000 is provided to the girls belonging to poor and weaker sections, minority communities and reserved categories.
