Fake views: can you spot the city copy?

  1. Which is the real Capitol Building?

    1. Replica of US Capitol Building in China<br>WUHAN, CHINA - NOVEMBER 08: An unfinished replica of Washington DC's Capitol Building stands on November 8, 2015 in Wuhan, China. An impressive replica of the US Capitol Building has stood dormant in the city of Wuhan for several years now. Originally intended to be used as a luxury hotel in 2007, construction halted after financing for the building dried up. The building is smaller than the original with only five floors, and the 535 members of the US Congress would probably not be able to stand under its cupola. Yet it showcases the same dome and Corinthian columns as the US version. The abandoned project has not gone to waste for everybody however. Its courtyard has been used by a driving school to drive and park, and local residents use its grounds to grow vegetables. (Photo by Lucas Schifres/Getty Images)

American President-Elect Barack Obama waxwork doll getting inaugurated at White House of Mikami Kogyo, Osaka, Japan - 20 Jan 2009
Proving that it truly is a global event, on the day that Barack Obama officially gets inaugurated in Washington as the 44th president of the United States a similar inauguration has happened across the world in Japan. Here an Obama wax doll took part in a swearing in ceremony, watched by past presidents that included George Bush and Bill Clinton. The scene of the service was Osaka's very own full scale replica of the White House. This copy of the presidential home was built by Mikami Kogyo, who is CEO of Yutaro Mikami - a company that manufactures prefabricated building components. Kogyo built the structure in Nov 1983, when then US President Ronald Regan visited Japan, in order to act as his company?s show room. And the building is an accurate depiction of the real White House because Kogyo got the blueprint of the building with the permission of Regan.

    2. AL BOTTEGON
It's not a restaurant but a Bacaro, run by Alessandra
992 Fondamenta Nani, Dorsoduro, tel: 041 522 971, closed Sunday
With the perfect location on the San Trovaso canal in chic Dorsoduro, this is a legendary watering hole, beloved by academics from the nearby university and a colourful crowd of expats. It is a packed, stand-up bar, with no tables, with an excellent selection of regional wines, but everyone comes for the cicheti the unique Venetian take on tapas. Osterie here are known in dialect as bacari , and have always sold cicheti , but behind the glass-topped bar of the Bottegon is Sandra de Respinis, the Queen of Cicheti. For 50 years she has been creating her recipes like an alchemist - creamed pumpkin with ricotta and parmesan, a swordfish tartare sprinkled with cocoa powder, smoked tuna with parmesan and a julienne of leeks, pesto Genovese mixed with mascarpone, ricotta and topped of with a sundried tomato. Each day she prepares a tempting 60 different cicheti to choose from, and at 1.20 each, half a dozen make for a hearty lunch. Outside AL BOTTEGON
